State Legislative Liaison: Sharon Murphy is a Lexington, KY native. She is returning to the Bluegrass State from Georgia and Ohio, where she received her Master of Public Policy, concentration in Social Policy from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. While in graduated school, she volunteered on President Obama’s 2012 campaign. Sharon moved to Ohio, where she became a Spring 2014 Fellow for Organizing for Action campaign on educating and enrolling people for the Affordable Care Act.
After returning to Lexington, she became a Voter Empowerment Organizer for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, where she is a very active member and serves as the Steering Committee alternate. Sharon has completed two of Kentucky’s competitive training and leadership programs; Emerge Kentucky(2015) and New Leaders Council (2016) . She also is a tutor at Nerd Squad, a STEM outreach organization dedicated to inspiring the next great minds by bringing to life STEM activities. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy from University of Kentucky.
