Chief of Staff: Community organizer, Alain Berrouet is a current graduate student at CUNY John Jay College studying Criminology and Research Methods. He is also a member of The Latino Leadership Institute, Puerto Rican Latino Defense Fund, and a Congressional Black Caucus Boot Camp Fellow. Alain was also a former shop steward for Local 32BJ, the largest union of property service workers in the United States. Alain was instrumental on the Political Action Committee, designing neighborhood initiatives that involved members of their local communities. He is also the Chief of Staff for the Black Caucus of Young Democrats of America. Additionally, he is a member of Queens Community Board 13 where he sits on the youth and education committee and assists in making decisions for his local community at large. Alain is passionate about entrepreneurship for young professionals in his area of South East Queens to the point where he put together an entrepreneur expo sponsored by the Mayors office where young professionals from all over NYC got a chance to network and showcase their business. Recently, he has begun a position with the DOE as a Family Leadership Coordinator. In this role, Alain supports Parent Coordinators of 45 high schools in the NYC area by engaging parents to be more involved in their children’s futures. Alain is committed to finding and cultivating transformative leadership throughout South East Queens and cultivating a culture of accountability, innovation and High Expectations not just in South East Queens but the country.
